ABF offers to move you by truck by providing the trailer and you pack it; then ABF drives the loaded trailer to your new home and you unload it. This process can save money compared to the high prices of full-service movers. Your rate is based only on the trailer space you actually use. ABF is a carrier, not an agent or broker so you are dealing directly with the service provider. Below are some common questions about delivering the trailer to you for moving.

Where does ABF park my trailer?
ABF can park your trailer in the driveway of your home or in the street. The height of the trailer requires a 14 foot clearance. It is your responsibility to ensure that parking a 28 foot trailer in your neighborhood is not violating any city ordinances. If necessary, obtain a permit or permission from city officials to have the trailer parked at your residence. If the ABF trailer is ticketed or towed for illegal parking, the applicable charges will be added to your freight bill.
If you are moving from an apartment complex, check with your apartment manager or superintendent to see where the trailer should be parked. If parking is restricted or prohibited, please visit our U-Pack terminal-to-terminal page.

Will ABF pick up my goods from more than one location?
Your trailer can only be left at one location. If you have items in multiple places, consider consolidating them to one location. This will help make your move easier and less stressful.

What if I'm moving to or from a storage unit?
ABF can deliver your trailer to a storage unit for loading or unloading. You should check with the property manager for permission to leave our 28 foot trailer on the premises overnight.

What time of day will my trailer be delivered or picked up?
Appointments for delivery and pick up of a trailer are usually blocked for a window of time given by your local terminal. This window of time is estimated based on trailer and driver availability on the day of your move. A trailer will be provided on the date you choose, but the time is estimated not guaranteed.

How much time do I have to load my goods?
In most instances, you are allowed up to 2 working days at both origin and destination to load/unload your shipment. Arrangements can be made if additional time is needed. Contact your U-Pack representative for more information.

How long will it take my household goods to get to destination?
Every U-Pack quote comes with an estimated transit time window. Transit times are NOT guaranteed. To count your transit you start with the first business day after ABF picks up the loaded trailer from you. Business days for ABF are Monday thru Friday, they do not include Saturdays, Sundays or major holidays. Once the trailer arrives at the destination terminal you have a two day grace period to accept your goods. After the two day grace period there is a $75/day charge for storage.
